THE PSS - A VENUE FOR LEARNING

Subspecialty Society of:

The Philippine Spine Society was founded in 1995 by a few dedicated orthopaedic and neurosurgeons to promote the growth and development of spine surgery and to raise the standards of practice of the specialty.
Its objectives are:

to serve as a medium for interactive sessions among the members
to foster harmonious relationship and camaraderie
to enhance knowledge and hone surgical skills through education and training
to advocate the advancement of spine surgery in the country

Membership requirements include a board certified orthopaedic or neurosurgeon, fellowship training in spine surgery and a research study publication.

To maintain a vibrant organization, the CME program consists of various scientific events namely, operative courses, workshops, symposia and research fora held regularly on the national and international levels. Overseas, the PSS has established a robust relationship with leading spine organizations such as Asia Pacific Spine Society (APSS), AO Spine International and Scoliosis Research Society (SRS).

In 2022, the PSS created the Philippine Board of Spine Surgery (PBSS) to serve as its accreditation body and to bestow the title “FELLOW” to qualified members. This distinction made PSS the only boarded subspecialty society of the Philippine Orthopaedic Association (POA) and a boarded affiliate member of the Philippine College of Surgeons (PCS).

To promote the understanding and elevate the standards of management of conditions afflicting the spine by ensuring professional collaboration among its members.
The society shall provide and organize opportunities for continuing medical education and research.
The Society seeks to promote holistic spine care guided by the highest ethical standards.
The society will be at the forefront of fostering public awareness and providing community service.
The society shall foster linkages with local and international organizations.

The Philippine Spine Society will be the premier organization in the advancement and propagation of excellent spine care in the Philippines and in the Asia-Pacific region.
